# Introduction: Welcome to TydeShift

**Protocol Name:** TYDESHIFT\\

**Native Token:** $TYDE\
**Year 1 Supply:** 100,000,000 $TYDE\
\\

TydeShift represents the next evolution of decentralized exchange architecture on Sui. At its core, the protocol leverages a vote-escrow (VE) model that's been battle-tested across multiple chains but refined for Sui's unique capabilities. The VE mechanism fundamentally changes how liquidity providing works as instead of mercenary capital that arrives with high APYs and leaves just as quickly, we're building a system where long-term holders control the protocol's destiny.\
\\

**Why TydeShift Matters**\\

\
Traditional DEXs face a fundamental problem in that liquidity is expensive to maintain and easy to lose. Launch with high APYs, watch TVL soar, take the foot off the gas, and let it die. This seems to be the general playbook of new Dexes in many cases (not all, but enough).

TydeShift breaks this cycle by aligning incentives across a longer time horizon. The protocol is designed from day one with sustainable economics in mind, not just bootstrapping at any cost. The rewards are circularly funnelled to the community and back through the protocol, creating an incentive for sustainability and aligned interests. These interests are aligned economically, not on faith and prayers.

**What is a VE 3,3 Dex?**

In "normal" dexes, the flow of rewards is designed by the team, or at least the devs that created the protocol even if it is now autonomous. This means rewards for Liquidity Providing are centralized, often locking out those who need the exposure, bootstrapping or general attraction to their project via farms to generate liquidity. In a VE 3,3 dex, $TYDE stakers can stake their tokens and decide weekly which pools they want to receive rewards. For example, maybe User 1 has a SUI-USDC position. They can lock $TYDE, vote for SUI-USDC to receive rewards in the next week (epoch), and it shall be.

Users receive rewards for this vote, in the form of Rebase, Fees and Bribes. Please refer to VE MECHANICS or Simple Explanation/ TLDR page to read further into the structure and flywheel of TydeShift.

**Why Sui?**\\

\
We're launching on Sui because the infrastructure matches our ambition. Move programming language gives us capabilities that simply aren't possible on other chains. The landscape here is lacking the Dex Model to Rule All Models, VE 3,3, Tydeshift..

If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.tydeshift.com/introduction-welcome-to-tydeshift.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
